چکیده
<p><strong>Background:</strong> Forest conversion to other land use types lead changes in soil physico-chemical properties and a reduction fertility. Although forest is extensively recognized alter properties, the influence on distribution of phosphorus (P) fractions abundance diversity biota not well explored. <strong>Objective:</strong> To assess effects converting undisturbed natural plantation (cypress), grazed pastures potato fields arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) Nyandarua County, Kenya. <strong>Methodology:</strong> Transects laid out triplicate were established each type. In pastures, transects measured 50 m with three sampling points 15 apart along transect, point measuring 1 m² divided into 25 grids grid being 400 cm². Transect length was increased 150 sites due relatively larger size area studied placed at apart, 1² grids. Soil plant samples randomly collected from used determine chemical P AMF spore examination. Data analyzed by analysis variance (ANOVA). <strong>Results:</strong> significantly (<em>p</em>&lt;0.001) higher compared fields, pasture cypress forest. On contrary, readily labile moderately cultivated (125.3 mg 258.2 kg-1, respectively) than (51.1 95.3 kg-1) (36.4 82.7 respectively). However, non-labile (599.1 lower (251.3 kg-1). Of ten genera identified, only <em>Glomus</em> <em>Acaulospora</em> (<em>p</em>&lt;0.01) affected change, where they more abundant types. Land type did richness AMF. composition varied across <strong>Implication:</strong> change may negatively affect enhance redistribution P, community composition, this could have long-term implications <strong>Conclusion:</strong> ecosystems croplands, tree plantations abundance, redistribute increasing reducing showing that chosen physical biodiversity.</p>

Plant coexistence mediated by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi
Recent research has indicated the importance of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in mediating plant coexistence. Coarse-scale studies compare the effects of the presence versus absence of AMF on plant coexistence, a phenomenon that is most relevant in early successional ecosystems where AMF are patchily distributed. By contrast, fine-scale studies investigate interactions that might occur onc...
متن کاملPopulation of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in semi-arid environment of Jordan as influenced by biotic and abiotic factors
This study was conducted to evaluate the population of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in the semi-rid agro-ecosystem of North Jordan and to evaluate the effect of the biotic and abiotic factors on AMF population. Soil samples were collected from 12 locations where several soil samples were collected from each location. The collected soil samples were analysed for chemical and physical p...
متن کاملEffects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Phosphorus Supplement on Leaf P, Zn, Cu and Fe Concentrations of Tea Seedlings
Influence of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) (Glomus etunicatum, G. intraradices and Glomus versiforme) and external phosphorus supplement (8 and 35 mg P Kg-1 soil) on leaf P, Zn, Cu and Fe nutrition of 4-month-old tea(Camellia sinensis) was studied in an glass house pot experiment. The highest leaf P concentration (up to 59.43% increase) was found in G. versiforme inoculated seedlings gro...
متن کاملBiodiversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in agroecosystems
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi [AMF] are soil fungi which form a mutualistic symbiosis with the roots of plants. A variety of benefits to the host have been ascribed to mycorrhizae, most often enhanced uptake of immobile nutrients from the soil, notably P. An understanding of the impacts of agronomic practices upon communities of these fungi would help to ensure an opportunity for the utilization...
متن کاملPhosphorus cycling in deciduous forest soil differs between stands dominated by ecto- and arbuscular mycorrhizal trees.
Although much is known about how trees and their associated microbes influence nitrogen cycling in temperate forest soils, less is known about biotic controls over phosphorus (P) cycling. Given that mycorrhizal fungi are instrumental for P acquisition and that the two dominant associations - arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) and ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi - possess different strategies for acquiring...
